10 Day Best of Rwanda Holiday Adventure

DAY 1 : KIGALI

On arrival into Kigali,  we kick-start our rwanda holiday adventure by meeting our VIP Airport assistance team that will escort you to your waiting driver.

Overnight:  KIGALI MARRIOTT HOTEL.

Dinner this night is included.

DAYS 2 – 3 : AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

In the morning you will meet your driver from Magashi Camp and will join a shared shuttle with other guests taking you to the camp.   (This is the only way to reach the camp except by helicopter).  The transfer takes around 3-4 hours but the last hour is a game drive.  Stay for two nights in Akagera Park.

Overnight:  MAGASHI CAMP

During your stay here you will join other guests on shared game drives, boat cruises and walking safaris operated by the expert guides.  This is a unique and exclusive reserve open only to guests at Magashi.  There is much to explore.

The camp opens officially in March 2019 and is currently under construction.   It is owned by the same company who own BISATE LODGE (wilderness safaris, who also own top safari properties in Botswana and Namibia) and we trust them 100% to deliver another beautiful and eco-sensitive property and high-end safari experience.

DAY 4 : KIGALI

Enjoy a game drive as you exit the park on a shared transfer to Kigali.   On arrival into Kigali you will be met by your private driver/guide who will take you on a private city tour including the genocide memorial if you wish, before transferring you to the hotel.   (Lunch this day is included).

DAYS 5 – 6 : NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

You will be transferred to the airport where you depart on a short (shared) light aircraft flight to the south of Rwanda where you stay for two nights.

Overnight:  ONE & ONLY NYUNGWE HOUSE

During your stay here you may also choose from a selection of inclusive in-house activities offered by the lodge.  These vary and are at the discretion of the lodge but usually include nature walks or community tours, tea plantation tours, tea-tasting experiences etc.

The following day your private driver/guide will meet you and escort you with a park ranger on a guided Colobus monkey trekking experience.    Return to the lodge for lunch before joining the shared tree-top canopy walk which is famous and an excellent opportunity for birding and spotting smaller primates.

DAY 7 : GISENYI

Transfer with your private driver/guide to Lake Kivu where you may wish to enjoy a boat cruise on the lake in the afternoon (extra cost applies).

Overnight:  LAKE KIVU SERENA HOTEL (superior room)

DAY 8 : VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, in the company of a guide you will embark on one of the part of the Congo Nile trail.  The Congo Nile Trail is a trail alongside Lake Kivu that extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro via the Karongi, Nyamasheke districts and ends at Rusizi District 215 km in total for the whole circuit. It’s a trail of beautiful landscapes, including rolling hills and clear water.  Enjoy the views of Lake Kivu coastline.  Biking offers adventurous travelers an exciting way to discover Rwanda. Eucalyptus trees line the road, while every corner of the hills is terraced with bananas.   You may do as much of the trail as you wish and your driver guide will accompany you.

At your leisure make your way with your guide around 1-2 hours to the Volcanoes National Park where you stay at your lodge for two nights.

Overnight:  BISATE LODGE

In the afternoon you may wish to enjoy a complimentary shoulder massage at the loge or one of the inclusive activities such as the guided village walk.

DAY 9 : VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy the wildlife encounter of a lifetime as you trek the magestic mountain gorillas. You will join up to 8 other individuals in your group and will be given a briefing before trekking.

After trekking you may discuss other activities with your driver or enjoy the inclusive community tours and activities.

Overnight:  BISATE LODGE

DAY 10 : END OF ITINERARY

In the morning you will be returned to the trekking HQ where you join a walking group to trek the golden monkeys (this is usually a gentle hike).   The playful Golden Monkeys are a delight to watch as they spring from tree to tree with their bright bushy tails.  The monkeys are habituated so used to seeing visitors and it is usually possible to get very close to them but they are still very much wild primates and your ranger will explain their behavior and personalities as you trek.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch (included) before transferring 2-3 hours to Kigali. We will drop off at the airport or a city hotel and this will mark the end of our 10 Day Rwanda Holiday Adventure.
