This is a private safari and can be operated on any dates to suit you. The safari starts and ends in Rwanda (Kigali) and you cross the border into Uganda for trekking and accommodations.

Tour Plan

DAY 1 : BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Arrive into Kigali & enjoy a city tour and optional visit to the genocide memorial (entrance fees included). We can also conduct other city tours including coffee, art, markets or cultural tours as required (pre-booking required).

Your driver will privately transfer you around 5 hrs to Bwindi National Park, crossing the border into Uganda where you stay at your lodge for a total of four nights.

Overnight: RUSHAGA GORILLA HAVENS LODGE

On arrival at the lodge you will be taken on a short guided community walking tour which concludes with a scenic viewpoint overlooking all six of the volcanoes.

DAY 2 : BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Enjoy the wildlife encounter of a lifetime as you trek the majestic Mountain Gorillas. You will be checked into the trekking HQ by our driver/guide who will ensure you are allocated to an appropriate trekking group. Each group consists of 8 trekkers plus the ranger, park guard and trackers/porters. Full guidance on trekking will be issued upon booking.

Optional afternoon activities may be discussed with the lodge.

DAY 3 : BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Today you will be taken to Lake Mutanda where you embark on a privately guided canoe excursion lasting around 2 hours. Paddle the canoe yourselves or relax and enjoy the views as your canoe guide propels you through these beautiful waters dwarfed by the towering misty mountains.

Vehicle support will be provided so you can choose to hike back to the lodge or split the return journey between driving and hiking. The scenery in this area is absolutely breath-taking and we recommend you have your lunch at the lakes, perhaps on one of the private islands with just the curious otters popping their heads up in the water occasionally or watching the birdlife and fisherman.

Time permitting you may discuss other activities with the lodge including a visit to the BATWA /pygmies community who are the original forest dwellers or the local primary school/orphanage who welcome guests.

DAY 4 : BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Enjoy a second encounter with the Mountain Gorillas – details as previous trekking day but you will be allocated to a different Gorilla family. Every trek is different and you can expect another exciting adventure with our great ape cousins.

DAY 5 : END OF ITINERARY

After breakfast you will be transferred back to Kigali (5 hour drive). We will drop off at the airport or a city hotel or transfer you to a restaurant if you wish to have dinner before leaving Kigali.

Kindly allow for 5 hours transfer and 2 hours check-in when considering flight bookings. Those with evening flight departures are requested to book a dayroom at a hotel in Kigali which we can arrange for you.
