The trip was action-packed but still had plenty of downtime to... read more relax after long hikes. Despite being a short trip, the itinerary was perfectly organized to make the most of every moment. From the initial briefing to the final drop-off, every detail was thoughtfully planned. We only had 3 days for the tour but if we had more, I wish we went trekking for chimps as well, we had such a great time.

    Our guide Ronald was the best. He kept everything moving seamlessly. We were never out of place, late, hungry/thirsty, or confused about what to do or where to go. His expertise in navigating the terrain, combined with his deep knowledge of the wildlife and local culture made the experience truly special. He also brought us to some great restaurants and shops along the way.

    The hotels were good, beds comfortable, and the staff put hot water bottles in the sheets to warm them up. Fair warning, internet/electricity not very reliable up in the hills in Uganda.

    We had an incredible holiday and everything from the itinerary, guide, value, etc. was 5/5 stars. Can't recommend Freka enough.

    star rating2 day gorilla trekking - look no further!  - We booked the 2 day gorilla trek wth Freka African Holidays through a friends recommendation. From the beginning the correspondence with the office was spot on. Peter was very quick... read more at replying to our queries and the whole booking was effortless . We were very impressed as we' not had the same experience with other companies.

    Faruk our guide communicated with us via WhatsApp (a big plus and very quick replies), was on time and very knowledgeable. He kindly requested our lodge if we could come back to shower after the trek was we were travelling back that night. We paid for the basic package and the lodge we stayed in was GORGEOUS (see photos for the view). We couldn't believe that type of accommodation was included in the basic price.

    Gorilla trekking had always been a big dream of mine, and I am extremely grateful to Freka African Holidays for making this dream come true.

    We are actually thinking of repeating the experience in the near future!

  • star ratingUnreal Rwanda and Uganda Trip!  - Wow, what an incredible trip! The Freka team put the 5 day tour together with only 2 days notice and everything ran seamlessly.

    The activities were unbelievable: gorilla/golden... read more monkey/chimpanzee tracking, boat safaris, game drives and car safaris. The locations were absolutely beautiful: Volcanos NP, Bwindi IP, Akagera NP, Queen Elizabeth NP. And the accommodation was great - I chose the "budget" option but it was more than comfortable, clean and welcoming. A highlight was the Rutete Eco Lodge.

    What really made the trip excellent was the fantastic guide - Ronald. Driving us vast distances across Rwanda and Uganda and making all the arrangements so that the trip was seamless and action packed - there was no hassle or waiting around. He's a great guy to travel with and talk with. I learnt so much from his excellent knowledge of the animals in the parks, the politics of the region, the local customs and culture, the amazing food of the region, and any topic that I could think of!

    I couldn't recommend Freka highly enough and I will look back on this tour with fond memories! I would love to come back to this part of the world again and do another trip with Freka!!

    star ratingLoved it!  - Freka African Holidays (Emily) was very flexible in helping us design our itinerary. We asked a few agencies but Freka included the most activities and had the most compatible price.... read more Sometimes we felt a bit insecure about booking directly and paying the deposit and had to ask about our status.

    We did a 9-day tour through Uganda and were picked up and dropped off in Rwanda. Our tour included: Lake Mburo (game drives and boat tour), Kibale (chimpanzee trekking and swamp walk), Queen Elizabeth National Park (game drives and boat tour), Bwindi (including gorilla trekking and Batwa experience) and Lake Bunyonyi (boat tour). We choose the budget option for accommodations but they were all very nice and all our food and drinking water was also included. Our guide Frank was friendly, kind and a good driver (O my , we could not manage to drive those dirt roads ourselves). We really enjoyed our experience in Uganda! And we would recommend it to everyone!

On the drive from Rwanda to Bwindi he took time to teach... read more us about three landscape of Uganda, the various crops, laughed with us, and accommodated any need we had along the way. He spoke to us about the Gorillas trek before we got there and prepared us for the experience. 100% would recommend Gerald as a guide. He is also kind and compassionate and checked in with us rhe following day to see how my friend was feeling aa she was sick and to see if we caught our flights ok. The Gorilla Trek itself was challenging but worth the experience where we were able to see the Gorillas up close and spend time observing them while also seeing Forest Elephants ( from afar as they are quite dangerous). This was a once in a life time unforgettable experience.

    star ratingExcellent choice for an amazing 5-day tour in Rwanda and Uganda  - I have just returned from a 5-day trip in Uganda and Rwnda organized my Freka African Holidays and had an amazing experience!
    At first I was going to travel solo... read more and had already made all arrangements (including paying the 50%) to Freka, and when a friend of mine decided to join the trip, Emily at the office assisted us and everything worked out.
    Our guide Gerald was fantastic and made us feel safe and taken care of during the entire trip. Gerald knows his way around Uganda and Rwanda without even needing to use a map, and is very knowledgeable about the parks and wildlife. He made sure we had an amazing experience and spared no efforts for us to see wildlife and make sure we arrived in time for all scheduled activities. Gerald is also a very good driver.
    When doing research on tour agencies, Freka stood out because of the itinerary and price. In 5 days (departing from Kigali and arriving back in Kigali) we did Volcanoes National Park (golden monkeys), Bwindi (gorillas), Lake Bunyonyi (the boat ride was amazing, we even saw an otter), Queen Elizabeth NP (boat ride and game drive), Kalinzu (chimps) and Akagera (game drive and boat ride).
    We chose the mid-range accomodation, as the price difference from the budget option was small, and all hotels were excellent. In two ocasions (Bwindi and Akagera) our original accomodation was full, so we stayed in the alternative options, which ended up being excellent. All hotels were in great locations, very clean and comfortable and the food was amazing everywhere.
    As two women travelling, we felt safe the entire time.
    I highly reccomend Freka and the 5-day tour in Rwanda and Uganda, as we could see and do a lot of things, without having to rush anything. If I had more time, I would have loved to stay extra days, especially in Akagera, but having only a few days, this tour was perfect.
